Golf drives their way into regionals

Golf swung into the District 10-5A golf tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday and they earned themselves a spot at regionals with the girls’ second place finish. “I placed in the top five which was a surprise to me because I didn’t do my best but I did good enough to punch my ticket to regionals,” junior Ashley Zhang said.

Golf hit the greens for District 10-5A golf tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday and the girls earned their ticket to the regional tournament with a second place finish.

“The girls played really well the second day,” head coach Shannon Glidwell said. “We probably dug ourselves too big of a hole the first day but they played great the second day and we were able to come back and qualify for regionals. And we are looking forward to that. The boys played hard and we had a lot of graduating seniors last year. We are a very young team and we had some guys that were new to tournament golf.”

Junior Ashley Zhang earned her spot at regionals with a top five finish.

“Districts was extremely hard,” Zhang said. “Our district is always the toughest, especially in women’s golf. The weather conditions were also super cold and not great for the players. I wasn’t super satisfied with my performance as I could’ve done better and made smarter choices. I placed in the top five which was a surprise to me because I didn’t do my best but I did good enough to punch my ticket to regionals.”
