Looking for a District 10-5A win after a loss to the Memorial Warriors on Tuesday, the softball team (4-5) hopes to get back on the winning track Friday night as they face the Centennial Titans (0-8).

“I am confident in our abilities to go out and take a win from Centennial,” co-assistant softball coach Heather Whitcomb said. “We need to stay focused on defense and make the fundamental plays. Offensively, we need to do what we do best and that is put the ball in play and put pressure on them.”

However, the coaches and players know a win isn’t guaranteed even though the standings are in their favor.

“We need to be intentional with each practice and each game from here on out,” Whitcomb said. “Every game matters, which means every rep we take to prepare matters.”

Senior Lixangely Martinez Lozada believes self-confidence will help the team get back on track with a win.

“I feel confident we can win [if we] believe in [ourselves],” Martinez Lozada said.
