Counting down the last two weeks of school, Wingspan looks at the top sports moments of the year. Coming in at #2, the softball team advanced to the playoffs for the first time in school history.

The first playoff run in school history is over for the softball team after back-to-back losses to the Wakeland Wolverines, 15-0 on Thursday and 11-0 on Friday.

“Words can’t describe how proud I am of each and every one of these amazing young ladies,” head coach Baylea Higgs said. “[They] did things that no one expected [them] to do, exceeded expectations, and worked so hard.”

For sophomore Delila Bond, the Redhawks being in the playoffs against such stiff competition shows how much progress they have made.

“I think we did a very good job as a team and have improved a lot since the beginning of the year,” Bond said.
