With the school year coming to a close on May 19, Wingspan is counting down the top sports moments from 2022-2023.

Coming in at #2, the softball team made history at the end of April when, not content with simply racking up their highest ever placement in the standings, they advanced to the playoffs for the first time in school history.

“Words can’t describe how proud I am of each and every one of these amazing young ladies,” head coach Baylea Higgs said. “[They] did things that no one expected [them] to do, exceeded expectations, and worked so hard.”

Sophomore Delila Bond believes that the Redhawks making it to the playoffs despite such stiff competition is a testament to how hard the team has worked to overcome the many obstacles along the way.

“I think we did a very good job as a team and have improved a lot since the beginning of the year,” Bond said.
