Wingspan’s Featured Athlete for 8/10 is volleyball player, senior Gabbi Fasciano.

Wingspan: When and why did you start playing volleyball?

Fasciano: “I started playing volleyball when I was in third grade. My mom put me in rec volleyball and I ended up really enjoying it so I stuck with it.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite memory of volleyball?

Fasciano: “My favorite memory of volleyball is probably winning districts last school season and going to playoffs.”

Wingspan: Who is your biggest supporter?

Fasciano: “My biggest supporter is my mom. She comes to every game of mine that she can and always cheers me on.”

Wingspan: How have you been preparing for this season?

Fasciano: “To prepare for this season we have been doing skills all summer and tryouts. We also had two scrimmages and our first game against McKinney North to get us prepared for districts.”

Wingspan: What is a personal goal and a team goal for this year?

Fasciano: “My personal goal this year is to improve on my skills to make my team better. A team goal is to win districts for the second year in a row.”

Wingspan: Do you plan to play volleyball after high school?

Fasciano: “I do not plan to play college volleyball, but I would like to keep volleyball in my life somehow.”

Wingspan: Having won districts last year, how does the pressure of upholding that this season make you feel?

Fasciano: “The added pressure of making it as far as we did last year makes me feel nervous, but also excited. I want to get that same feeling we did last year when we won districts.”
