Cross country kicks off their season Friday in the Rock Hill Twilight Invitational. The runners will be competing in a two mile race around Warren Sports Complex.

The starting gun sounds for the first time on Friday as the Redhawk cross country team competes in the Rock Hill Twilight Invitational at Warren Sports Complex.

“This early in the season and only a two mile race is just a benchmark for our training,” head coach Khera Vay said. “It will tell us where we are, help us determine where we want to go and give me a better idea of what to do to get each individual there.”

The team has been preparing this summer with a variety of types of running workouts including long runs, tempos, fartlek, and intervals, along with cross training at LA Fitness.

“I’m going into this meet with no expectations because it’s my first two mile race,” senior Kayla Winter said. “As a team, I think we can place really well.”
