The Academic UIL team competed in more than a dozen different events at the UIL Region 2 meet held at Stephen F. Austin University this past weekend placing 6th as a team, with some advancing on to the State competition.

“I am really pleased with how the students did,” UIL coordinator Jeff Schrantz said. “We are in an incredibly competitive region and all of our students worked to the best of their abilities and I’m really proud to be sending five people to State.”

The Academic UIL State meet will be held at the University of Texas, Austin campus from May 23-25 and five students will get the chance to compete there.

“I hope that over the next four weeks in preparation they continue to work to improve,” Schrantz said. “I know we have AP exams on the horizon, which I’m sure students will be working very hard on, but then after AP exams are over we can buckle down and try to make some more gains as we move to State and do well at State.”
