Icey temperatures hit Texas through the weekend. With game cancellations and schedule changes, the Redhawks soccer teams still competed in the Denison Tournament over the weekend.

Through frigid temperatures, the Redhawks competed in the Denison tournament Thursday through Saturday with the boys coming out with a record of 2-0 and the girls ending with a record of 0-0-2.

“I thought obviously two wins is a great showing for a tournament,” head boys’ coach Evan Mcgee said. “We learned a couple things. We tried a new formation this weekend, and so a lot of good learning moments but still good.”

The girls had an odd schedule facing lots of game cancellations and changing opponents.

“I think we did a good job adapting during the tournament,” sophomore Katie Meeks said. “We were able to go with the flow and not let it affect us.”

The girls’ were scheduled to face off against Terrel High School Tuesday in another preseason matchup, but the game was canceled due to weather conditions.
