Key Club is hosting their annual event in which students can buy carnations. Students can fill out a google form to log their recipient(s) and can make their payments in the cafeteria during advisory.

Key Club is kicking off the Valentine’s season with their carnations available to buy until Tuesday. Students can fill out this form to log their recipient(s) and can make their payments in the cafeteria during advisory.

The carnations sales are an annual event which Key Club always hosts. Besides the fact that it gives students and staff on campus the opportunity to celebrate their loved ones, it’s also a way that the school supports local charities.

“This year we’re [supporting] Dress To Learn, which is a charity that provides uniforms for young girls in India,” Key Club president Ishika Aggarwal said. “So, it’s to help with their education since many girls in India aren’t able to go to school without [them]. Every year all the officers come together and we pick a charity. Last year we also did Dress To Learn and we thought it was a really good charity, so we decided to continue with it. But yes, [picking one] is a yearly tradition.”

Though Key Club has had a little bit of trouble with sales this year and had to extend the deadline to fill out the Google form, they’re hopeful that they will get more buyers by Tuesday.

“We have been struggling with carnation sales, but we’re hopeful that this week, we will bring in a lot more orders,” Key Club secretary junior Cindy Trinh said. “We’ve been promoting the carnations on our Remind, Instagram, and Wingspan.”

The Google form also gives students the option to leave a personal note to their recipient(s).

“I liked the idea of being able to add a personalized note because I could use it for inside jokes and simply tell my friends ‘Happy Valentines!’” sophomore Stephanie Okorie said. “I did leave a note for all my recipients.”
