Golf took on the Byron Nelson Spring Kickoff on Monday, with the girls scoring a year best of 326. “Everyone played very good golf and we were especially good around the greens,” head coach Shannon Glidwell said.

Redhawks golf both competed in the Byron Nelson Spring Kickoff Monday at the Trophy Club Country Club, coming out with mixed results. The girls finished in 4th place with a year-best score of 326, while the boys scored 328 and took 6th.

“The girls played very well, with our best team score of the year,” head coach Shannon Glidwell said. “Everyone played very good golf and we were especially good around the greens. The boys were hot and cold as we had an inconsistent round. They had some strong holes but we compounded our mistakes too often which led to some poor holes.”

Senior Ashley Zhang, who was the best-scoring golfer for the Redhawks, stresses the importance of keeping emotions in check to deal with how unpredictable golf can be.

“On the course you have to be able to control your emotions to play well and to stay calm,” Zhang said. “It’s challenging to keep your score low because of how unpredictable golf can be due to the hazards and how different the courses are.”
