The wonders of music

Music can make many things just a little bit better according to guest contributor Marlowe Crater.

It can be really hard to stay focused on your work, especially for me. Since I have ADHD, staying focused the whole time when I’m working is not my strong suit. I tend to get distracted a whole lot.

But ever since I’ve been pulled into the magical portal of Spotify, things have been so much better for me.

When I’m working or cleaning my room, I always love to turn on some music on my speaker or my earbuds if I only want to hear that and not any other background noise. Something about having music on in the background just makes things feel much brighter and makes me feel more motivated.

I don’t have a specific favorite genre that I listen to, though. Most of the time I stick to the artists that I mainly listen to and kinda surf to find songs that are similar (but usually I just keep listening to the same people or playlists over and over again).

The best way I can describe my taste in music is songs that have high energy. I usually have a lot of energy so it’s nice to listen to songs that can match that. I try to make playlists that I can put songs into, but I forget to do it all the time, so I just keep clicking on “Happy Mix” or “Upbeat Mix” that Spotify makes for me.

Doing chores and homework is not the most fun thing to do, that’s for sure. But what could make it go faster and help you stay motivated to finish? Listening to music, of course! Pick your favorite artists or genres, or just search up some nice chill study playlists if you like it to be more calm.

I switch between both, because on one hand, I like my loud, energetic music. On the other hand, I like studying while listening to a more laid back and relaxing playlist. It makes me feel nice and calm, like I’m in a coffee shop.

It’s honestly the best way to get things done. This can be true for those who have trouble staying on task or procrastinating like myself. Having some nice beats in the background can make things feel faster. You can even hum and sing along so things can feel a bit fun too. I certainly have too much fun having my own private karaoke while I make my bed.

Music is the best way to go when you need some motivation or if you need to clear your mind. It’s gotten rid of a lot of stress for me, and I’m sure that it can help you as well.
