After a slight delay in the schedule district play has finally arrived for soccer as they take the field Wednesday against Frisco.
“We want to play well, and we definitely like a win, because that’s a good way to start district play on a win,” head girls’ coach Kyle Beggs said. “But but mostly want to play well and just take it to Frisco High.”
The game was delayed due to a mutual decision between the district and referees that the temperatures were too cold to play in. With this change in the schedule, Beggs believes this is something his young team will need to learn and adjust to.
“They’ve had to move some stuff around in their personal schedules,” Beggs said. “So you prepare like you’re going to play Tuesday, and now you got to postpone that to Wednesday. So that’s going to be a big hurdle for a team that’s kind of young and hasn’t experienced that yet.”
The boys are coming off a 4-1 loss against Marcus on Friday. Coach Evan McGee believes the score, however, does not reflect how the boys played.
“I also think the score wasn’t a great representation of how the game,” McGee said. “We gave up a bad penalty, we gave up two other pretty glaring mistakes, which were three of the goals and they can easily be corrected.”
Moving into Wednesday the team will need to work on fixing mistakes from Friday, senior Logan Cox says.
“We need to improve our work ethic and focus to cut out dumb mistakes,” Cox said.
