Prom can be one of many idealized high school milestones, and for Redhawks, the potential change to create a life-long memory comes on April 5, 8 p.m.-11 p.m. at Toyota Stadium’s National Soccer Hall of Fame. This year, students can add a personal touch to the day with a form taking song requests for both prom and all the lunches on April 4.
This year, the school is holding a lunch jam: an opportunity for students to enjoy music through their school day as a DJ, DJ Mixtape Marcus, will be visiting every lunch period to play songs. In the middle of the lunch periods, the DJ will also announce prom king and queen nominations.
“I love the personalized form,” senior Angie Fei said. “For me, music is so important for any dance so the fact that we get to choose our own music is really nice, so we can really make the most of our time there.”
For senior Sanjana Suresh, being able to choose the music can lead to more inclusivity.
“I think [the personalization opportunity] is honestly great because people have a say in what they listen to and will feel more included,” Suresh said.
At the end of the day, prom is an opportunity to connect with friends for senior John Fu—something that the music can make even more memorable.
“I think prom is a night to celebrate our last year as seniors,” senior John Fu said. “It’s only right to go where all our school friends are going as well!”
