I think people who are vegan are missing out. The reasoning behind veganism is understandable, but I think eating zero animal products is a little much.
Vegetarians are way more rational when it comes to their dietary restrictions, as it includes eating the dead animals themselves, but not even being able to enjoy an animal product? That makes me sad for them.
I can’t imagine having a bad day and not being able to drown my sorrows in ice cream. Sure, there are dairy free alternatives, but no substitute will ever compare to the real thing.
I can understand not eating meat, however I think that if there are no animals being harmed in the making, they should be able to go crazy with whatever else they want.
Also, what do they even eat for their protein? Sure, there’s foods other than meat that have protein in it, but dairy is already off limits. In order to get the proper amount of protein you’re supposed to have in your diet, you would have to eat a lot of whatever you’re getting your protein from, whether it be legumes, nuts and seeds, and whole grains.
Of course, there are still soy products like tofu and edamame as well as meat substitutes, but those things are often hard to make them taste good.
This isn’t even mentioning the products other than food that vegans can’t use. There are makeup brands, sunscreen brands, and even clothing brands that either test their products on animals or use animal products in the production of them.
The worst thing about veganism is how much work it is. Before you buy anything, you have to find a way to figure out if it’s vegan, sometimes you have to pay more for vegan products, you have to find substitutes for things that are not vegan, and there is so much other work you have to do to successfully be a vegan.
I’m not in any way trying to judge vegans, but I think that being a vegetarian fulfills the same belief system as vegans with less restrictions.
