With the last week of AP exams here, many students are cramming in as much studying as possible. But let’s be real–studying can get boring really fast. I’ve found that listening to music not only makes the process more enjoyable but also enhances productivity.
One of the main reasons people choose not to listen to music while studying is because they think they have to listen to things like classical music. While this may work for some people, it isn’t a strict guideline.
Although classical music can be beneficial since there aren’t lyrics to distract, I personally think it works better to create a playlist of familiar songs. This can be of any genre of your choosing (although I would advise against heavy metal or house music…), as long as it is a collection of songs that are enjoyable for you but won’t make you want to have your own impromptu concert.
For me, this consists of a lot of folk and country music. A lot of people I know choose to listen to pop or rap music. My point is, listening to music can help make studying a lot less miserable if you’re having a hard time staying on task.
On top of this, listening to music can actually help you be more efficient with your studying. Playing songs that you love helps alleviate stress in most situations, including studying. When you’re in a better mood, you’re more likely to have better focus and be more productive!
Listening to music not only makes the process more fun, but it also helps you be more effective in your studying. With that, good luck to everyone for these last few days of school and crush your exams!
