Sleep paralysis is often accompanied by hallucinations. These vivid images can be categorized as intruder, incubus, or vestibular motor. Intruder hallucinations are made up of an evil presence in the room. Incubus hallucinations often co-occur with intruder, and they carry feelings of pressure on the throat, causing the sleeper to feel chocking sensations. Vestibular motor hallucinations are accompanied with out-of-body feelings like floating.
