Wingspan: How long have you been playing volleyball and what got you started?

Pennington: “I’ve been playing for eight years, and I started playing because a bunch of my friends played and I wasn’t really good at anything else so I just decided to get into it.”

Wingspan: What position do you play?

Pennington: “I play setter.”

Wingspan: Do you have any individual and team goals for this season?

Pennington: “Individually, I want to be more consistent with my setting to help the hitters more. For team goals I think would be to beat Reedy and Wakeland because those are probably our two biggest competitions.”

Wingspan: What is your mood on game days?

Pennington: “On game days I’m really excited, that’s probably what I look forward to.”

Wingspan: How do you prepare for a game? Do you have any traditions?

Pennington: “For traditions, we always take a team picture in the morning when we’re all dressed up or in Redhawk gear.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite part about volleyball?

Pennington: “My favorite part is definitely being with my friends, all of my best friends are in volleyball. Also going out to team dinners is really fun.”

Wingspan: What is the most challenging part about volleyball?

Pennington: “The most challenging part would have to be war wednesdays, because it’s a lot of conditioning. But it makes it easier being with your friends and pushing each other.”

Wingspan: Do you play for an outside of school club team?

Pennington: “I play for a lot of different club teams, but this year I’m playing for LoneStar and I also play competitive beach.”

Wingspan: Are you interested in playing volleyball past high school?

Pennington: “I ideally would like to play volleyball in college, I’m still looking around, but that would be the goal.”
