Wingspan: Why do you play softball?
Evans: “I play softball because it’s a really engaging, fast-paced sport and it focuses a lot on teamwork.”
Wingspan: What are you most excited about this season?
Evans: “I’m really excited for our district games to start up and play some challenging teams!”
Wingspan: What position do you play and how do you contribute?
Evans: “I am primarily a catcher and I’m basically the “quarterback” of the defense. I manage the game and support the pitcher like blocking or framing pitches, and throwing out base runners who are stealing.”
Wingspan: What does your practice routine look like?
Evans: “We typically stretch, throw, do daily infield and outfield drills, and then either work on situational plays, base running, or hitting drills.”
Wingspan: Who is your biggest supporter?
Evans: “My mom is definitely my biggest supporter. She always takes me to both in and out of school practices and encourages me to keep going after a rough game.”
Wingspan: What’s your goal for this season?
Evans: “My goal for this season is to improve my mindset after making an error or striking out, and so far I think I’m doing a pretty good job.”
Wingspan: How long have you been playing and what got you started?
Evans: “I have been playing softball for ten years. It all started when my friends’ parents decided to create a recreational softball team, and I ended up joining.”
