Going into their second match of Region II-5A playoffs, the tennis team is hoping to conquer reigning state champions, Highland Park, Friday at Highland Park at 12:00 p.m.

With an impressive playoff history, the Scots have taken 17 different state championships out of the 25 state finals they have competed in.

“Well we are playing the number one team in the state,” head tennis coach Erica Dopson said. “They are very strong. Our main goal is to compete the best we can. There will be some fun matches.”

Despite the competition, athletes are ready for a fight and are hoping to keep their road to state going.

“I think it will be a tough battle,” sophomore Bonnie Wu said. “It will be a chance to show how far we’ve come over this school year. I’m expecting us to really come together as a team and cheer for each other too.”
