Tipping off in their first home game of the season, the boys’ basketball team takes on Little Elm at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday at The Nest.

“I feel great about it, we came off a really tough win on Saturday against Red Oak, they’re a really good team so I feel really confident coming in today with that we are starting to piece together and play as a team,” senior Zion Richardson said. “Of course everybody has those first game jitters at the start of the season, you learn poise and knowing what to do in the right situations, whether it be quarters and stuff like that.”

The Redhawks’ game against the Hawks helped prepare the team for tonight’s battle against the Lobos.

“It was good for us to break the ice and see what kind of team we have this year,” head coach Stephen Friar said. “We started off slowly but hopefully we can carry that momentum into tonight’s game.”

Although the team has been preparing for Tuesday’s game, it won’t come without its challenges as the Lobos feature R.J. Hampton, one of the nation’s most highly ranked juniors

“Biggest challenge against Little Elm is getting back on defense,” Richardson said. “They are a team that loves to get out in transition and they rebound quickly, so our biggest challenge would be to make sure we have someone back, make sure we limit those rebounds that they can get in transition and we’ll be fine.”
