Less than five days ago, Florida’s beaches reopened. While this in and of itself was a hasty decision, what baffled me even more was the fact that it was crowded within minutes of opening.

I mean, almost 200,000 people have died during this time. We’re in a serious situation right now and we should be taking our actions seriously as well.

Sometimes, people are misguided. And it’s important that there be somebody to help guide others back. But, it’s a little hard to make the lines clear when President Trump himself praises social distancing protestors. We can’t keep assuming that things will still turn out “okay” despite making multiple blunders. It’s time to get our priorities straight and that includes making the right choices. Commending a group of thoughtless protestors is definitely not one of the right choices and I seriously think that the President needs to understand how deadly this pandemic truly is. We can’t just roam the streets because we don’t care about safety. That’s putting way too much on the line for me.

These careless actions could cause a spike in cases. I think that during this time, it’s important for people to remember that they’re not only putting themselves in danger, but they could potentially be putting many others in danger. It only takes one mistake to create a chain of mistakes.

I never expected to be writing about the same topic for weeks on end. And it saddens me that I’m probably going to be writing about it for weeks more. Let’s fix this before it’s too late to fix anything.

The sooner we take responsibility and act with concern, the sooner we can move on with our lives.
