Ah yes, the dreaded three weeks in between Thanksgiving and winter break are finally coming to an end. I know the second that school started back up again after the Thanksgiving break, I was ready for the next vacation to roll around.

Maybe it’s the monotony or maybe it’s because we truly do need a break.

I mean, sure it was only three weeks. Who can’t handle three weeks. Right? But, I don’t think it’s about the number. I think it’s more about the fact that these past few months have just been a rough patch for everybody. It’s expected and it’s allowed. But, I think for many, this break is exactly what we need to get out of our slump.

If you’re like me, you really haven’t gotten a chance to do much of anything that’s just for yourself. Meaning, you’re inside 24/7, which about sums me up right now. I’m so eager to just walk around or just even sit outside for a little while. For no reason except for the fact that I can. Just for myself.

I want my column today to be a reminder. A reminder that there is still so much that you can do while staying safe.

I mean, it’s so hard to believe that just last year everybody was talking about how the decade was ending. I know it seems like this is our new normal now. So, let’s make sure that that feeling doesn’t become reality. Now, this doesn’t mean we need to be hanging out with a ton of people or start acting recklessly. But, instead, I’m just saying that let’s not let the virus get the best of us.

Things are starting to look up (knock on wood). The Pfizer vaccine has been approved by the FDA, people are signing up to get administered for the first time, things just seem to be looking up.

It’s funny.

Even after almost a year of straight sulking, the hope in me just sprouts right back up. Maybe that’s what we all need. Just a boost of hope. I know it may seem like there’s no point in hoping for things anymore, but there always is.

So, like I said, I just want to remind everybody to do things that make you happy. Spend time with your family this holiday season, go for long walks, drive around in your car.

Do whatever it is that makes you happy; do it just because you can.
