Boys’ basketball held The Nest down when they faced the Heritage Coyotes on Saturday, winning a close matchup 56-54, and putting the Redhawks in 1st place in District 10-5A, one half game ahead of Heritage.

“The boys played great against a tough team, especially with no practice for a week because of the ice storm,” head coach Stephen Friar said. “They showed resilience and endurance all game to come out with the win.”

This was a battle for both teams as they had to go in with little team practice with teams not allowed in their school gyms with Frisco ISD closed Jan. 31-Feb. 3 due to winter weather.

“It was pretty hard not being able to practice or even play on my own because of how bad the conditions were throughout the week,” sophomore Cobe Coleman said. “It definitely played a factor during the game, getting a slow start out the gates but we found our groove by halftime.”
