After falling 6-5 to the Independence Knights in extra innings on Tuesday, the Redhawks are hoping to return the favor Friday at The Nest. The Redhawks (4-3) enter the game in third place in District 10-5A trailing Independence (7-2) and Lebanon Trail (9-0).

Revenge is on the minds of the Redhawks baseball team as they host the Independence Knights Friday at 7:30 p.m. at The Nest.

“If our pitchers can execute what they need to do, I think we’ll be fine,” head coach Scott McGarrh said. “I know the boys have the scoring potential against this team, it showed the first time against them, so we just need to focus on playing good defense and not allowing them on base.”

The Redhawks are eyeing to get back at the Knights after Tuesday’s 6-5 loss, but the team understands the importance of staying level-headed to give them their best chance at improving their 4-3 District 10-5A record.

“We all feel good, mentally and physically, and we’re ready to get back out there and do what we usually do,” junior Ian Garza said. “We just have to focus on our game, play it the best we can and see how everything falls, but there’s definitely a little more motivation for this one because of Tuesday.”
