WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AS STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT?

“Lily and I’s main goal as Student Council president and vice president is to promote school spirit and involvement for all students and to highlight all organizations on campus. We really want every student that walks on campus to feel included and supported, and we want to do this by encouraging involvement. We want more pep rallies next year to recognize all sports at Liberty and to promote school unity, and add themes to these pep rallies. We also want to increase student input on themes and dress up days, so the student body gets their voice heard. We want to focus on reaching out to all organizations and create more posters to highlight all of these organizations across campus. We also want to create more fundraisers and volunteer opportunities for the student body, so students can connect with more ways to help the community. We really want to make every student feel like they are a part of something on campus.”

WHAT STEPS WILL YOU TAKE TO FOLLOW THROUGH ON YOUR COMMITMENTS?

“To follow through on our commitments we are really just going to listen to the student body and make sure their voices are heard. We want to start planning for next year, so we can incorporate all of our ideas into it. Many of our ideas will take a lot of planning between Lily and I, and with the whole student council, so we are just going to really hold ourselves accountable to make next year a memorable year for all students on campus.”

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER CANDIDATES?

Lily and I have been close friends since middle school, and our bond inside and outside of school makes us a really strong partnership. We have worked together every day in student council, along with working together outside of school at our job. We both have a lot of similar goals for next year, and we both are really excited about planning those events together.”

HOW WOULD YOU HELP FOSTER SCHOOL SPIRIT?

“School spirit is something that is really important to me and Lily. Lily has been on the drill team since freshman year and I have been on cheer since freshman year, so we both have a ton of experience with school spirit. Whether it is being involved in games, pep rallies, or other events, Lily and I have been around school spirit since the moment we entered high school. We want to use this experience to make campus a place where everyone feels included and a place that really promotes spirit. We want to do this by creating themed pep rallies throughout different seasons, because pep rallies are a great way to unite the student body. We also want to build up the student section through posters and funding things for the students to hold/wear. We also want to increase student input on themes and create more posters around the school advertising clubs, sports, and other organizations.”

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR RUNNING MATE, AND WHAT MAKES YOU THE BEST FIT FOR THE ROLE OF PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT?

“I chose Lily Leyden as my running mate because she has been a close friend of mine since middle school. She is a super hard working person, and you know when she does something she is always going to put her best effort forward. Lily is a dependable person and you can always count on her for anything. We have the same ideas and goals for next year, so she is a super strong partner to have. We work really well together and I would love to lead the student body with her next year. I am so lucky to have Lily as my running mate!”

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO YOU TO BE STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT?

“It would be such an honor to be able to lead the whole student body as student council president. It is such a large task and big responsibility to take on, and Lily and I are ready to do it. My mom was Student Council president, so it would mean a lot to me if I got to fill this role. She has taught me so much about being a leader, and I would be so grateful to lead like her next year.”
