Taking on Walnut Grove for the second time this season, the Redhawks came up short yet again losing 4-1 to the Wildcats. The team hopes to turn it around Monday when they take on Independence in a rescheduled game due to predicted weather conditions.

After winning a three game bi-district series against Frisco, the Redhawks have their sights on becoming area champs and to do so, they’ll have to take down the W.T. White Longhorns in a three game series starting Thursday.

“They’re definitely a team that’s going to fight for a lot, they play a more small ball focused game and have solid defense on the other side,” assistant coach Easton Moore said. “We have to look to get on base and work from there, try to put pressure on the pitchers by having a lot of presence on the bases.”

After losing the first game against Frisco, the Redhawks won two straight, but players such as sophomore Drew Miller don’t want to take anything for granted.

“Playoff baseball is a completely different atmosphere to anything I’ve been a part of and I’ve been enjoying every moment, ups and downs,” Miller said. “Our team has a special bond together, and we want to continue to fight for each other on and off the field, so no matter who we face, we plan to leave everything out on that field.”
