With the school year coming to a close May 19, Wingspan is counting down the top sports moments from 2022-2023.

Coming in at #4, boys’ baseball made their first playoff appearance since 2021, advancing to the third round and still going strong.

“The kids came out ready to roll, they were excited to execute and went out swinging like their bats were on fire,” head coach Scott McGarrh said. “They didn’t let off the gas all game and continued to score and pile on the runs for us, it was a great feeling for the team.”

Senior Cooper Wixon attributes his team’s success to them being kept upbeat by past victories.

“When we got that last out against Frisco [in the previous game], it really registered for us that we can ball with anyone in the state of Texas, and that’s because we’re playing to where we’re capable of,” Wixon said. “We just continued to fight, no matter what the score was, we kept executing and playing how we play, and now we have a chance at the regional tournament.”
