Ready for round three of the playoffs, the Redhawk baseball team swept W.T. White on Thursday and Friday. “The kids came out ready to roll, they were excited to execute and went out swinging like their bats were on fire,” head coach Scott McGarrh said.

Qualifying for the playoffs with a win in their final series of the year, the Redhawks baseball team advanced to the third round on Friday after sweeping W. T. White with a 13-0 win on Thursday and a 11-0 win on Friday.

“The kids came out ready to roll, they were excited to execute and went out swinging like their bats were on fire,” head coach Scott McGarrh said. “They didn’t let off the gas all game and continued to score and pile on the runs for us, it was a great feeling for the team.”

The Redhawks were able to carry the energy from the win against Frisco and it allowed them to play at the dominant level that they’ve been chasing all season.

“When we got that last out against Frisco, it really registered for us that we can ball with anyone in the state of Texas, and that’s because we’re playing to where we’re capable of,” senior Cooper Wixon said. “We just continued to fight, no matter what the score was, we kept executing and playing how we play, and now we have a chance at the regional tournament.”

Facing fellow Frisco ISD school Reedy starting on Thursday, McGarrh is happy but not satisfied.

“It’s amazing for these kids to accomplish this much so far, even though there’s more work to do,” McGarrh said. “When we qualified for playoffs, there weren’t many outside the team that thought we could even make it past round one, but the boys put their heads down and earned everything.”
