The Board of Trustees approved the final budget of $54.9 million for the construction of a fine arts facility utilizing funds from the 2018 $691 million bond package. The project will start construction during summer of 2024 with an expected completion date in 2026.

The Frisco ISD Board of Trustees is hosting its monthly meeting March 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the FISD Administration Building.

The board is set to hold a closed session involving a consultation with the district counsel, the plan for which includes topics of student safety such as students’ use of social media and the protection of their personal information, deployment, and the results of intruder detection audits.

Additionally on the agenda is recognition for achievements across the district such as teacher recognition, recognition of the district’s academic performance, and the commemoration of students in State swimming, wrestling, and diving, as well as TMEA All-State Secondary Music students.

Further, the board will discuss a bond purchase contract, a guaranteed maximum price for the Frisco ISD Visual & Performing Arts Center, and the enactment of the district’s 4th and 5th grade health curriculum.

Closing the board meeting will be a review of the monthly tax report and discussions over the arrangement made with Prosper ISD regarding boundary adjustments, and the possible sale of property and construction of schools within the district.

Christina Huang, Staff Reporter/Interactive Media Editor
Christina Huang is a sophomore in her first year officially with Wingspan. She enjoys reading, writing, playing the piano and viola, and finding/creating wallpapers for her phone which she will likely never use. She’s looking forward to the opportunity to better her writing and find the good in scorned books this year through her book blog: Every Book Has a Silver Lining. Remi Williams, Sports Editor
Remi Williams is a senior and starting her fourth year in Wingspan. At school she is involved in Student Council, on the Girls soccer team, and is Historian for NHS. When she’s not at work she loves hanging out with her friends, working out, and trying new recipes. But she’s usually talking to anyone and everyone or watching Netflix (feel free to send her show recommendations). Her most embarrassing accomplishment is that she has a couple thousand followers on Tik Tok, even though she doesn’t know a single dance. Remi is hoping to pursue a career in marketing at whatever school accepts her in the future. Oh, and she is also probably the funniest person you will ever meet despite what anyone may say.
