The boys’ basketball team (1-3) could not maintain their two-game winning streak, falling 60-46 at Memorial (2-2) Tuesday. With the loss, the Redhawks slip to fourth place in District 11-5A in a three-way tie with Frisco and Independence.
“We just let the game get away from us,” head coach Bruce Wright said. “The guys were not really able to utilize the scouting report we have, and we didn’t execute the game plan the way we wanted to. We let our opponents take control and they never let up.”
Sophomore Gideon Akemi believes the team could have done better in more ways than one.
“We needed to stick to the game plan and be prepared for what challenges come up during the game but we did not,” Akemi said. “We lost because we were not able to work harder than them.”
The team will look to pick up their next win when they host the top-ranked Emerson Mavericks (4-0) Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
