“I don’t know what to expect, honestly. I’ve seen everything underneath the sun for the dance department, so I’m curious to see how it’s going to go–I’m on the edge of my seat.”

The words of dance director Nicole Nothe foreshadowed a never before seen performance Thursday during advisory.

The inspiration: KATSEYE.

When KATSEYE takes the stage, their presence is electric.

KCON LA.

Kids’ Choice Awards

MTV VMAs.

MAMA.

The crowd is screaming, music starts to play, and energy is through the roof.

The Hybe x Geffen global girl group has taken off. With representation from all over the world, KATSEYE has inspired people worldwide, including a group here on campus.

“A lot of us love KATSEYE,” freshman Yoshita Gabbi said. “They’re a global group that really inspired us to do what we want to do, dance and have fun with our friends, and we wanted to share that with everyone.”

In order to bring this choreography to life, the girls have put in long hours of work.

“It involved a lot of practice,” freshman Silvia Lee said. “We fit in time during advisory and on the weekend when we were all able. One time we even started at 5:30 a.m.”

Dance teacher Nicole Nothe has been a major support for these girls.

“That was me when I was in high school,” Nothe said. “I know how it feels to look up to someone and say ‘I want to learn a routine.’ I’ve been there in those shoes, so I get it.”

After putting in long hours of work, the dancers got to see their performance come to life.

“I am so proud we got this to happen, and being able to connect with others has made me feel like a proud member of the LHS community,” Gabbi said. “It made me feel like I had a purpose to showcase my talent, and express my favorite music to our school.”
