Orchestra is having their annual banquet featuring awards, senior recognitions, and all sorts of memories from the year Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Marriott. 

“The banquet offers a wide variety of activities throughout the night,” sophomore Sophia Essa said. “For the first portion, we get to enjoy a large food bar with tons of amazing options! Then, we hold an awards ceremony where students are recognized for their hard work, skill, and commitment throughout the year and are given various awards. Often, our orchestra president will give a speech dedicated to our lovely directors and our orchestra, which is then continued by our directors!” 

Although seniors do take the main spotlight at the event, there are opportunities for other students to make memories. 

“Based on my experience from last year, we were treated with access to a dance floor, photo booth, and a courtyard to socialize,” Essa said. “Throughout the entire evening, we honor our seniors by showcasing the students’ baby photos in comparison to a recent photo, taking all seniors on stage to receive a special award, and by giving them their senior jars filled with heartfelt notes from their classmates.”

For senior Trisha Agarwal, this banquet is a way for her to look back on her past years and commemorate them. 

“I plan on going to the orchestra banquet because, as a senior, I feel like it’s my last year to go to these kinds of events,” Agarwal said. “Also, I wanted to commemorate these past four years of orchestra with one final celebration.”

Each year at the banquet, the seniors are recognized first with a baby picture, then a current picture. 

“Something that I’m most excited for at the banquet is getting to see all the seniors’ baby pictures,” junior Ophelia Grigoryan said. “I think it’s so fun to guess who is who, and also because it’s the last time I’ll be seeing them.”
