I don’t have a Clue how long it’s been since I last played a board game in my Life. Unless it’s because of utter boredom or lack of technology, board games have kind of become a last ditch option for fun.
Well, What Do You Meme?
Board games have had to wait patiently on the top shelf of a cupboard as digital games and other hangout activities take the center stage. They now have a nostalgic charm to them, preserved almost like ancient artifacts. But surely we’re still capable of playing them even now?
So maybe they’re not the most portable or easiest to set up. But at least all your progress won’t disappear by disconnecting the WiFi. If we can wait for a movie to buffer and load, I think we have the patience to set up a game.Better to play chess with humans than against a silent robot online, right?
Board games still have so much more to offer than cardboard, plastic, and rules. They’re means to make new memories.
There’s always that one person who gets assigned to read out the instructions while everyone else sort of blanks out and of course, the one who flips the board over if they don’t win.
They’re also a great way to kill time and Break the Ice at parties, cozy hangouts, and Perfect when a movie’s running in the background. They make people talk, laugh, and even get competitive.
And how else are you going to figure out someone’s third favorite color? It’s also kind of fun to gather around a board and wait in anticipation, knowing that your chances of winning depend solely on luck and strategy rather than already programmed algorithms.
Let’s roll the dice and decide the fate of board games together.
