Community and staff members can take part in the Frisco ISD Languages Other Than English (LOTE) textbooks and online material review Thursday from 3:30-5:30 p.m. or Monday from 9-11 a.m. at the Career and Technical Education Center Training Rooms on Wade Blvd.

“We need to review the textbook to make sure that they have been updated to meet the state requirements,” Spanish teacher Makenzi Epps said. “We are looking for books with a lot of resources that are engaging and that can be updated because in 10 years we’re going to have the same books.”

The materials being reviewed are under consideration for use in Spanish and French classes for grades 8-12 and is a lengthy process.

“We met and we created a rubric for evaluating all of the textbooks that we saw and we got samples from 10 or 11 different venders,” Epps said. “Then we saw 4 different vendor presentations after we narrowed it down and hopefully we’re going to pick a book.”
