  • Starting off with loses in the NISD Classic, the Redhawks were able to bounce back. “One bad day doesn’t mean we have to have a bad weekend,” assistant coach Taylor Ruesch said.

  • The team will move to the second round of playoffs on Thursday. “I know the girls were a little jittery since it was their first playoff game,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “I think we have gotten the nerves out and will play looser next round.”

Redhawk volleyball became Bi-District Champions on Tuesday, when they beat the Frisco Raccoons 3-1 during the first round of playoffs.

“We pulled out a win which was awesome,” head coach Eighmy Dobbins said. “I am excited for us to move onto round two. We definitely could have played better. I know the girls were a little jittery since it was their first playoff game. I think we have gotten the nerves out and will play looser next round.”

Down after the first set, the Redhawks made a comeback to win the next three sets.

“I think we all knew we had to win the next three sets, and that we did not want to go to five,” junior Grace Payne said. “I just think we all collectively knew we had to do much better in the next sets than we had just played in the first.”

While the team still looks for improvement, Payne feels ready for the second round of playoffs on Friday.

“The game last night did not go the way we wanted it to, but we survived and now we advance,” Payne said. “I am satisfied with the team’s results, we finished strong and came out on top.”
