Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams are participating in tournaments Thursday through Saturday.

The boys will be facing off against Amarillo, Anna, and HSAA high schools hoping to keep a clean sheet this weekend.

“Our goal for the game is to not allow goals this week, keeping a clean sheet.” head coach Evan McGee said. “This is a tournament that will help us prepare for the start of districts the following week.”

With districts beginning in a week, this is the final learning experience for the team according to Akshat Singh.

“I’m not too nervous going into this tournament because its still preseason and were using these  games to prepare us for the actual season,” Singh said. “But its important that we take these games seriously because its our last opportunity to learn and fix mistakes.”

Meanwhile the girls’ team is facing off against Mesquite Poteet, Anna, and Wylie high schools. Head coach Kyle Beggs also sees this tournament as an opportunity to prepare for districts.

“It’s another opportunity for us to work on things we’ve worked on in practice and continue to get better,” Beggs said. “It’s a chance for us to execute our game plan against a good opponent before starting district play and contending for a playoff spot.”
