Saturday marks the district meet for Model UN at Grand Prairie High School. “The basis of MUN is that you’re preparing something about your country’s stance on a certain topic - it’s a mock United Nations,” undersecretary of conference and delegate trainer sophomore Jiya Sharma said.

The Redhawk cross country team will head to North Lakes Park for the Marcus Coach T Invitational Saturday in their first 5K of the year. “I am nervous about entering the meet,” sophomore Srishti Shetty said.

The cross country team is heading to North Lakes Park in Denton to compete in the Marcus Coach T Invitational at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday.

“We are still early in the season and will use this meet as a stepping stone to prepare for District, Regional, and State competitions,” coach Robert Thayer said. “This week’s meet is our first 5K course this season and I expect many of our athletes to run personal best times.”

The first 5K of the season brings a sense of unease for sophomore Srishti Shetty.

“I am nervous about entering the meet because it is our first 3 mile meet this year,” Shetty said. “Our very first meet I didn’t perform to my expectations, so this will be a retry on having a good first meet!”

Running in his first elite varsity race of the year, senior Cade Krug thinks the team is ready for Saturday.

“I mean it’s definitely going to be difficult,” Krug said. “They changed the course from last year, and looking at the way we’re looking right now with how we’re doing in practice, we’re looking real strong.”
