The tennis team (4-2) suffered a season-worst 17-2 loss to the #6 state-ranked Lebanon Trail Blazers (5-1) Tuesday, ending their two-game winning streak.
“We came up short, [but] overall I was proud of how our team competed, despite the result,” assistant tennis coach Neil Grobler said. “I was even more proud of the level-headedness our group showed in a rather rambunctious environment. The Redhawks fought and kept their poise from beginning to end – that is something that will serve our players well far beyond the game of tennis.”
However, things are only going to continue getting harder as they take on #1 state-ranked Centennial (6-0) next week. Sophomore Noyonika Banerjee believes that the team will be up to the challenge if they can fix their mistakes from this match.
“We don’t give up easily,” Banerjee said. “That’s our biggest strength, and we’re very determined, so I feel like we could win next week.”
