As the Hindu calendar marks a season of festivities, the Bollywood Dance Club is gearing up for an array of events designed to celebrate various cultural festivals on campus.
The club aims to grow beyond its previous achievements by providing students a space to connect with their passions while honoring their cultural heritage. Teacher and club sponsor Elaine Cook is enthusiastic about supporting students through the Bollywood Dance Club.
“I’m excited to just help the students facilitate and be an outlet for something that they love—being able to dance, and celebrate their culture and just express their interests,” Cook said.
Vice President Meenal Ahlawat is also excited about the club’s creative possibilities.
“We have creative freedom on what we wanna do and the songs we wanna pick and that we can plan a lot of fun events throughout the year,” Ahlawat said.
For freshman Cathy Mohanraj, the essence of Bollywood dance lies in its energy and expressions.
“It’s really about the energy you give for dance and the expressions, so that’s like really the important thing,” Mohanraj said.
