With the 2024-2025 school year coming to an end and the summer sun approaching, we’re all desperate to finally grasp that door handle to freedom from any more work for a while. It feels like a breath of fresh air after waking up early to be stuck inside the same building for seven hours a weekday.
It feels nice to get back to the comfort of our own homes, but we often get so wrapped up in wanting to get out of school that we end up staying stationary too long and sleeping in a lot. Understandable, but why waste the shining sun waiting for us? If you’re looking to pass the time, pick up a new hobby, get active, etc, then here’s some ideas to help you with soul-searching. (Some of these you can even do during your free time next year!)
1. Kandi bracelets
I’m sure you’ve seen a bunch of kids in school with colorful beaded necklaces saying many different things. These bracelets are super fun to make and can help you express yourself through creativity. You can pick whatever colors you please and even put some cool words on them or your favorite things.
2. Skating/Skate parks
This one can be a bit costly, but it’s super fun and worth it. Whether it’s roller skating, skateboarding, scooters, etc, it’s great to do cool tricks at skate parks or cruise around the neighborhood. If you roller skate, you can take your skates to indoor skate parks and show off your cool tricks.
3. Crochet
If you’re online a lot, you’ve definitely seen people make cool crochet related stuff such as blankets, plushies, clothing, etc. It’s relaxing and allows you to express your creativity with soft thread. If you’re looking to earn some money, then you can start your own online shop and sell your creations! So it’s a stress-free hobby to earn money (optional) and squeeze out all the negativity like a sponge.
4. Hiking
I personally love hiking. It’s one of my favorite things to do because I like to appreciate nature and feel strong as I traverse through mountains and trees. It doesn’t require too much either; just good shoes, a water bottle, and maybe some nice music if it gets too quiet.
5. Cooking
Why not pick up some new recipes? Not only can this help you expand your creativity, it can provide great nutritional benefits if you want to make something healthy that fits to your liking. This can be great if you’re a picky eater as well. Make what fits best for you!
