Monday and Tuesday are days off for students, while staff members have Monday off, followed by a staff development day on Tuesday all of which provides a chance to relax and take a break after the first few weeks of school.
“It’s nice to have a little bit of a break to help readjust [after] coming back to school,” freshman Lauren Woo said.
Senior Anagha Konuru doesn’t have any particular plans for the break.
“I have nothing big planned for the break,” Konuru said. “I’ll be hanging out at home the whole time. Maybe I’ll meet up with friends, but otherwise just chilling out.”
Other students have more specific plans.
“My plans are to celebrate my birthday,” senior Tamia Temple said. “It’s on the third, so throughout the weekend I’m gonna go out with a few friends and eat out with my family. Hopefully, I’ll get some good gifts! I’m also gonna practice volleyball, because my season starts soon.”
The four day weekend will give students an opportunity to be productive and catch up on school work if they want to. Konuru doesn’t plan on being too productive during the break, but has a few things she’d like to work on.
“I don’t have much to be productive for,” she said. “I’ll probably study for AP Statistics [or] work on my songs for choir and theatre, but otherwise nothing else.”
With the college application season now beginning, Temple hopes to allot some time to making further progress on her applications.
“I’ve been pretty on top of my college applications, but I’m going to continue working on them,” Temple said. “Several of the schools I’m applying to are through regular decision, so I don’t have too big of a workload. I do need to write my essay, but I already know what I want to write about.”
