The first nine week grading period is over, and Wednesday marks the start of the 2nd nine week grading period.
“The first nine weeks were pretty hard,” sophomore Zayin Salley said. “It was very stressful figuring out all your classes and just getting adjusted back into doing schoolwork and just learning how to get back into the rhythm of being in school, but once you got into the groove of it, it became really easy and it was just really a breeze.”
Despite the difficulties adjusting into the beginning of school, the first nine weeks went well for Salley.
“[The first nine weeks have] been absolutely great, I’m passing all my classes,” Salley said. “I love all my teachers, and I couldn’t be more grateful that the nine weeks just went this well.”
However, for junior Sunny Garcia, the first nine weeks started out easy but got harder toward the end.
“The start of the nine weeks was very easy, but when it got towards the last of the nine weeks, that’s when teachers started rushing everything and it was just like, ‘okay!'” Garcia said. “So, it was very overwhelming at the end, but I felt like the beginning of the nine weeks was very easy.”
For algebra teacher Andrew Whitecotton, the first nine weeks proved to be hectic in regards to grading.
“[Grading assignments has] been a lot,” Whitecotton said. “There’s been a lot of tests to record and get sorted out before the grade deadline, so, you know, it’s just been a little crazy.”
