From Hall Park to Kaleidoscope Park, people will be lining the streets as high school marching bands, football teams, cheerleaders, local businesses, and many other groups pass by during Frisco’s annual Community Parade, which is taking place Saturday at 10 a.m.
This year’s theme is “Fall for Frisco,” and invites those attending to bring festive energy to the parade.
The parade is held every November to mark Veterans Day and celebrate the Frisco community.
“I am going to the parade with Red Rhythm,” senior Mahi Kosuri said. “I think this event brings the community together in honoring veterans, which is really significant because citizens are coming together to support those who have honorably and valiantly serviced our country.”
Also taking part in the parade on behalf of the Redhawks is the band.
“I think the Frisco Community parade is very significant because it really brings the community together,” senior Pratya Manjunathan said. “There’s twelve high schools going, and their bands are going. So, it’s a great opportunity for everyone to meet new people. And, I think the value is that it brings a lot of the community to watch. Whenever I have gone the last three years, there’s always a lot of families and little kids that enjoy it.”
For non-profit organizations and businesses that registered to participate in the parade, there was a $200 and $400 fee, respectively. All those proceeds go towards the Frisco Education Foundation (FEF), which provides scholarship money to Frisco ISD students.
“I think it’s valuable [that the proceeds go to FEF] because it provides educational opportunities to those who work hard but may not be in the best financial position,” sophomore Navdeep Kumar said.
