As the end of the first semester approaches, the class of 2026 gears up for Senior Bonfire Wednesday at 7 p.m at Wayback Barn in Mckinney.
“The senior events have brought me closer to my classmates and been a positive part of my senior year,” senior Betty Rushing said. “I am most looking forward to the senior bonfire to spend time with my friends and enjoy the bonfire.”
Similar to other senior events, the bonfire poses an opportunity for seniors to spend time with their friends and make memories during their last year of high school.
“My favorite part of senior year has been savoring the special moments with my beautiful and amazing friends,” Rushing said.
In order to plan Senior Bonfire, as well as the other senior events, there are numerous factors the PTSA has had to take into consideration.
“Some things we needed to think about were reserving the location, having a team of senior parents working together to make sure the evening is memorable, and putting together a Google document to take dinner orders ahead of time,” PTSA Senior Chair Christie Gore said. “My daughter is in charge of IG so she has been posting the event.”
There will be lots for seniors to look forward to at the bonfire, including outdoor games, music, and dinner, as well as the bonfire, smores, and photo opportunities.
For senior Kaitlyn Synatschk, this event, like the other senior events, is bittersweet.
“I am most looking forward to driving my friends out there and roasting marshmallows!” Synatschk said. “But my least favorite part of senior year is how fast it’s going because I know I’m going to miss these days when they’re gone.”
Although senior year can be a bit of a blur for some students, events like Senior Bonfire allow some to take a step back and relax with friends.
“My least favorite part of senior year has just been how busy I have been,” Rushing said. “But I do enjoy getting the chance to spend time and make good memories with my senior friends.”
