With several inches of snow, sleet, and ice still blanketing North Texas, Frisco ISD announced on Tuesday that it would remain closed on Wednesday. The district also announced that it will file a waiver for the missed school days with the Texas Education Agency.
In an email sent out on Tuesday at 5:14 p.m., the district said:
Frisco ISD staff and parents,
Frisco ISD buildings will be closed for instruction and business on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, due to sustained poor road conditions. We understand that weather-related closures can create challenges for families and staff, and this decision was made with the safety of our students and employees as our top priority.
- Will we need to make up the day? Governor Abbott declared a state of emergency prior to the winter storm hitting the state, and Frisco ISD will file a waiver for the missed school days with the Texas Education Agency.
- If the waiver is approved, no make-up days will need to be utilized. Access the 2025-26 student calendar.
- If it is not approved, the District will communicate which make-up day will be used.
More information about weather-related closings in Frisco ISD is available on our District website.
