Students who are parking in staff parking areas could soon be in for a surprise.
Starting Thursday, students will be required to have a visible parking permit on their car and will receive a warning sticker, if they are parked in a staff parking lot or parking without a permit.
“So the parking permit policy isn’t actually anything new,” assistant principal Richard Sabatier said. “Students have designated spots that they need to park in. Y’all have the lot over by the gyms, then you have kind of back by the soccer fields, baseball fields, softball fields.”
The policy comes as more and more student parking violations have come to the attention of campus administration.
What we’ve noticed is that students are parking in the teacher parking lots,” Sabatier said. “That[‘s] a problem. Y’all aren’t supposed to park there, and also we want to make sure that y’all’s cars are maybe a bit further away from the teacher[s’] cars, especially since some of y’all are still learning to drive.”
Student parking lots, shown above with a green box around them, include the original student parking lot on the side of the gyms and a secondary parking lot, found behind the fieldhouse and tennis courts.
All lots marked with a red border are for staff parking only.
If a student does not have a parking pass or is parked in a staff parking lot, they will first receive a sticker with a warning. Upon their second offense, students’ cars will receive a boot with students’ having to pay for removal.
Parking passes can be purchased through Online School Fees and can be picked up from the front office.
