Monday marks start of fourth nine weeks

The fourth and final quarter of the school year began Monday, marking the start of the final stretch of the year for seniors. The fourth quarter brings AP exams and grade freezing for seniors, as well as fun end of year activities.

Friday marked the end of the 3rd nine week grading period, but instead of going to spring break, the fourth quarter starts Monday, with spring break beginning March 16.

“I am happy the third quarter is ending because it is harder than the other two. We had to prepare for the SAT and prepare applications for summer programs, I’m glad that I got that over with.” junior Jiya Mehta said, “I am also excited for spring break as I am going to Disney World, and I’m looking forward to having a lot of fun there.”

Students weren’t the only ones ready for the third quarter to be over.  

“It is definitely a busy season, I feel like everyday the kiddos are coming in. I feel like they’re having a test or an outside of school activity,” dance teacher Sydney Mooty said. “I mean fine arts are having UIL, red rhythm is having competitions, sports are in season. So it’s definitely a crazy quarter, especially when it comes to having extra assessments like the SAT.”

With Friday marking the last day of school, students across campus are already making plans for the summer. Wingspan will also be on summer break and resume posting on Aug. 12.

The class of 2026 will officially graduate on Wednesday. With students being required to report to The Nest by 5 p.m., this year's graduation ceremony is set to take place at 8 p.m. at the Comerica Center where students will walk across the stage and later receive their diploma.

With the final days of the school year approaching, all students will have early release on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students will be released at 1:00 p.m.

The hallmark of senior graduation ceremonies is walking across the stage. But students might see a change in the near future with the introduction of AI to announce student names in nearby districts, such as Plano ISD,
