Next year, the school is adding another Gifted and Talented (GT) option for students.

Current juniors in the American Studies program will have the option to continue their GT education next year with the school’s adoption of GT AP Government.

“I am super excited to still be using GT next year and I think having GT for four years is so important because the first two years you stay with the same two teachers and you develop skills which you may not develop in other advanced classes,” junior Ranveer Awasthi said. “If you continue to stick with that and that project based learning and that emphasis on going beyond the textbook it can really set up your college education.”

While it is still unclear what the program will look like, AP Government teacher Amanda Peters thinks it could shape up well.

“I know that liberty is going to be offered to seniors GT AP Government next year,” Peters said. “I’m not sure what it entails but if it’s like the other high schools it will be a little more project based learning, we’ll be bringing in a little more outside resources for students to read and make real world connections to a little more hands-on activities. I am not sure 100% who’s going to be teaching it yet because the master schedule doesn’t come out till march but it should be a really great class for students.”
