For many students, spring break is a time to relax. But next year, students may have the chance to spend it exploring the Mediterranean coast.

The trip, being planned for spring break of the 2026-27 academic year and organized through EF Tours (not affiliated with Frisco ISD), would give students the opportunity to travel along the Mediterranean coast and include visits to Italy, France, and Spain.

Students would be able to experience different cultures, learn about European history, and visit well-known landmarks.

“We chose to organize this trip for students because we wanted them to have a location that they were interested in,” Spanish 1 and 2 teacher Yuridiana Franco said. “In the past, we’ve done trips to Spain, we’ve done Costa Rica, most recently Barcelona and Paris, as well. So, in particular, this location was one that they wanted to do. So we are interested in student choice, in taking them places where they are legitimately excited to go, so that’s the reason we chose this particular location.”

The trip is being planned far in advance so students and their families have plenty of time to prepare, make necessary arrangements, and secure their spots without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

For many students, this trip could serve as a valuable opportunity to broaden their understanding of the world, experience different cultures firsthand, and create meaningful, lasting memories beyond the traditional classroom.

“I feel like going on a trip to a country instead of learning about it in a classroom is a lot more helpful,” sophomore Mikiyas Jenkins said. “It’s like very exciting experience to go somewhere with your friends and our teacher, like Ms. Vicente, kinda showed the ropes about the culture and everything and she just like built the foundation.”
