The CTE Center is hosting a student job fair on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. for students aged 16-18.
“An array of employers attend in various categories like food service and hospitality to youth tutoring and coding businesses to popular summer positions in lifeguarding,” CTE Lead Counselor Cara Yeates said.
Among the employers scheduled to be on site: veterinary clinics, a device repair certification company, and the new Frisco Steam arena football team.
“The Frisco Police Departments will also be here to talk about their Explorer program, giving students a chance to volunteer with Frisco PD over their high school career,” Yeates said. “Tables will be set up in the main CTE Center halls so students can visit employers, submit their resume, collect applications, or hear more about the opportunities available.”
Yeates recommends students spend the two hours finding companies that interest you.
“This is a great way for students and our employers to have face-to-face interaction and practice communication skills related to interviewing,” Yeates said. “Students will be able to ask questions related to the job field and what employers are looking for in their candidates.”
Students are asked to dress professionally and be prepared for on-the-spot interviews.
“While some employers might not be hiring on the spot, tons of students end up with jobs before the summer from their experience at the job fair,” Yeates said. “It also gives students an idea of all the companies in our city and potential positions for the future. It will be a fantastic event and low-pressure opportunity for students to talk to community employers!”
